The Pan Evaperation Rate ( an experiment that has been carried out for more than a century ) which measures the evaperation rate of water, depends on many factors. Tempature is one of these factors, there are others, just a few others are wind speed, and photons hitting the water. It turns out that the most important factor for the pan evaperation rate is the photons hitting the water.
I think people are concerend about global warming, becuase we belive there is a tipping point, from which it will be difficult to return from with todays technology. Many global studies point to aproximatly 400 parts per million of CO2.
We are sitting at about 350 currently parts per million of CO2. Releaseing more CO2 more rapidly brings us to a tipping point (if it actually exists) faster. The end result is if there is a tipping point we have less time to understand what we are doing and to evaluate the consequences, and perhpas most importantly prepare for any consequences. I think that generally in the west people do things unconsiously, and with out condisdering consequnces.
Perhaps this hurried philosophy is what really needs to be addressed.
Dad was a photographer......he would spend days getting a single print just right. When computers became a serious option for professionas, he went digital. Producing a good pirnt takes time regardless of whether it is in a digital dark room, or room with reduced light.
If you want quality work then you need to put effort into that work to make it of the quaility you require.
Need something done well, and do not have the time or expertise to do soemthing. Then expect and accept it is going to cost. Do not skimp and get some half assed person to do the job if you want that job done well.
If you want quality (particularly for a service) then it costs. If do not bothered about quality then hire someone who has never done it before, and pay them minimum wage. Decide what you want up front.
The work performed by someone doing it for the first time will need to be redone quicker than you may think, it may be less expensive and a better experince to get it done well the first time..
Yes we have limits (budgets, time, etc) but the reality is getting somone to do something well is going to take time and resorces; This is the current relality.
As we watch the the world vanish, we should ask ourselfs why... Some may consider how will we explain are doing nothing?

Maybe this post will inspire someone to write a letter. (to a political leader)
or. . ..Perhpas this article will inspire someone to write more poetry. (and make me fell better)
Unlikly but. . . it may inspire me to stop posting on slashdot. (which could only be better)
or. . ..possibly I have made a lasting contribution to poetry. (forever)

You may think I am crazy but I actually paid for this browser, even with great alternatives like Firefox. The reason: it has the most amazing features, which after trying, made any other browser seem cumbersome.
To name a few :
Workspaces with auto-save (my favorite)
Secure bookmark synchronization via webdav (indispensable)
If you are after lightning fast file name search, you can not go past 10.3 (Panther).
If you are after fast content search then try 10.4 (Tiger). Tiger is currently in beta, however it has a working search plugin architecture called spotlight.. Currently The system spotlight supports searching many formats, including PDF, which I noticed someone was requesting.
Google and Yahoos search programs sound good, however I am going to stick with Apples integrated solution, until someone makes something better.
On the one hand I agree - computers waste time.
on the other this would have taken all day to typeset, then printing and finally sticking my output on a massive bulletin board which obscures the view of the sky.
I really could not imagine writing by hand all the time and then having someone type set it so I can read it, next week.
On the other hand at least my handwriting would improve.
Is cheap, and can do big prints it would be great. I would get one to paint my walls. If this dose what it claims, it could be a lot of fun. When dose a color one ship?
just wondering which software you used to transfer data to the memory stick (with it in the camera) rather than the tape - or did you put the memorystick into a card reader of some sort.
