"For example, what does DosEnterCriticalSection() do? How am I supposed to know that it does NOT operate like win32's EnterCriticalSection..."
Actually, the OS/2 version made more sense...you were entering a critical section of code that needed the CPU...with Windows you're lucky to guess at the meaning even after reading the docs (I have VC++ 6.0 now and some of the MFC docs aren't even complete!)
The OS/2 API's were categorized based on their applicability to the programmer (OS, Windowing, System, Graphics, Profile, etc). Try wading into the Win32 API without a map. The only thing that helps there is a 3rd paty book on the subject. At least with OS/2 you could reasonably guess where you had to look for something and then you could usually figure out what the params were with just the header files.
COBOL for B2B and e-Commerce? I don't think so. As a back-end for ERP/EDI I can see COBOL as an invaluable asset but it's not my first (or second) choice.
Who uses SAMBA for File&Print on a Linux network?

I mean, can't the test windows with NFS and lpd? Why is it they always compare "network" performance using Windows P2P and Linux running Samba?
On that note, what is the performance difference between NFS and Samba for file services?
How about the performance difference and load capability of lprng and Samba?
Just a thought.

If taking guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens is going to reduce the type of crime that we've witnessed in Colorado, then why is it that in the HOMICIDE TABLE does Israel come in last with a total of 8 homicides/year? This, in a country where almost half the population is armed.
After having lived in the middle-east for over 2 years (in Haifa, Israel) I never heard of any child showing up to school and blowing away his fellow students and teachers with daddy's (or mommy's) M16.
This isn't a gun issue, it's a cultural issue. Many children today have absolutely no respect for their parents, teachers, even each other. This needs to be corrected if we as a country are to survive.
Did a Yahoo! search on 'techpages.com' and found numerous links containing the URL.

There are other sections too...

Just my 2 cents...
P.S. You do sound like you're whining..
