  1. Re:Omnis Studio on Cross-Platform GUI Toolkits (Again)? · · Score: 1

Omnis Studio allows the developer to program on the OS of his or her choice. I run a consulting firm that specializes in the Omnis family of products. When we bring on a new hire, I allow the person to choose a new machine, one that they are most comfortable with, whether it's a Windows, Mac or Linux box. That allows for a happier employee, greater productivity and enables me to deliver greater value to our clients. It also allows me to deliver future proof applications as the environment is not tied to a particular OS. The Omnis developer community is incredibly vibrant. There is a community list server with nearly 1000 subscribers and there are three developer conferences held each year, one in North America (AmerOmnis - www.ameromnis.com), one in Europe (EurOmnis - www.euromnis.com) and Australasia (OzOmnis - www.ozomnis.com), all of which are community run. Omnis Studio is mature and fully functional. It's been around for decades yet it has very much kept up with the latest technologies. You can download a fully functional demo version at www.omnis.net.
