  1. My Experience on Transferring Domains From NSI? · · Score: 1

About 2 weeks ago I transferred two of my domains from NSI to register.com. The process went VERY smooth and they emailed me as soon as they received the paperwork.

Basically you have to fill out a form from register.com and have it notarized and mail it to them.

I was just amazed at how fast register.com contacted me after receiving the paperwork. I've been trying to do DNS updates with NSI since january and haven't gotten a response (except autoresponders saying that my dns server doesn't exist).

I'm now doing all my domains with register.com and totalnic.

  2. I've done this, but the other way on Promote Your ATA66 Controller To A RAID Controller · · Score: 3

I got a FastTrak66 for $59, thanks to Fry's for putting the wrong price sticker on the box!

Unfortunately there is no Linux driver for the FT66 (and promise will not give a delivery date), so I downgraded the card to an Ultra 66. Just move a resistor to a different jumper and flash the bios. Now I'm doing poor man's disk mirroring with rdist. Wish I could have hardware raid though...

  3. Quiet cases? on The Quest For Cool Cases Continues · · Score: 1

Does anyone know of a company that makes quiet cases? I read about one many years ago but now I really have the need for a case that makes no sound or hum at all.

  4. If you have 4 months for your project on Future of PHP Revealed · · Score: 1

I was really impressed with Zope but I still think they have a ways to go with the documentation. There is a very steep learning curve. Yes, I'm an OO person and a python person. But it was still not clear how to do some things.

I chose php for my project instead and was very pleased.

Agreed. I personally would never pay for banners on another site. But there is still demand for banner space (I guess clueless people who think banner ads work really well). If your site is good, people will go to you about buying ad space.

  6. Re:SSN Should not be used for ID on I Am Not a Student, I Am a Number · · Score: 1

If you read one of the original social security cards from the 1950's, it says "not to be used for identification". I guess that changed a long time ago.
