a better book to pick up would be O'Reilly's Mac OS X for Unix Geeks, which has a section on setting up a DAMP system (Darwin, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python). Pretty cheap too, you can get it from B&N or Amazon.
I couldn't say I feel more strongly about something. Before attending university, I decided to save money by taking general education and non-CS classes at a local community college.
When I walked into the college bookstore with my checkbook, I looked at the books I was going to buy, and realized that I would have to take out a loan to cover the expenses! I ended up actually having to borrow about 300 dollars a quarter just to stretch my budget enough to cover each quarter's books. If only an ORA edition of Gardner's Art through the Ages was available...
I can't count the number of times, I have gone to the bookstore, seen a topic of some interest, and then been completely destroyed by the price of the book.
