Quite honestly I like XP better than Redhat 7.2, And it runs my multimedia devices better. I run my big screen off my computer when I want to watch my Divx movies in the living room, you know what a pain in the arse that is in Linux? In windows I right click the desktop, choose properties, make the change and click apply. I didn't have to download any special modules or programs, My OS was set to go. And well, ever try to play BattleField 1942 on Linux? Oh that's right, you can't.
I could say the same about people who post as Anonymous Coward. Couldn't you remember your password, or are you just afraid of having your opinions associated with you? If this is the case, then your opinions really shouldn't count.

First of all they didn't die in space, they died in low orbit, inside Columbia, probably burning alive.
Second of all, in low orbit, you have air friction, meaning, that although two cars both doing 250 MPH have the a relative speed of zero to each other, I still don't want to try to tether, from one to the other.
Third and finally, you failed to read what I said about not being able to launch a second shuttle on demand. unless weather patterns just happened to be right.
Colin Powell remarked once that if they had 20 people dead on a mission in Vietnam, it would not have even warranted a press conference. So really, who cares about 7, that many were born before the press release was out.
But does the statement paint is like plastic carry any weight. For instance, PVC, EPVC, PEP are all plastics.
But they all have significantly different properties.
Where did you get your degree and who was your PPET professor? I bet your just some guy who went out and did some internet research otherwise you wouldn't try to argue that paint is essentially a plastic.
Your right, that's what a bank is for, and lets face it not many people need to back up their data. ummm...you don't need fiber to do web chats with voice, you don't need fiber for a 3d tv, you need the tv first, which I haven't seen hit the market so who cares if we can have a cable that will give us functionality that we don't have hardware to support
what hard drive can be read in that short of an amount of time to be able to be transmitted in a few seconds. And as for cache, are you implying that in the future we will have more RAM than hard drive space?
P.S.
How many people need to download someone elses hard drive every day?
Go to f...ing work. And work from there, The videos I augment and render are huge files and take forever to do from home....duh, that's why I go to work and sit on our 100 megabit network. Which by the way is going to be the fastest you can use right now, I know they sell gigabit cards but how many desktops can write, or read data at a gigabit a second.
Optical to the home is dumb, 82% of the internet is still on dial up, why don't we get the cable modem technology to be cheaper first and maybe just get all of our ISPs on Fiber, then they can give us more bandwidth to our cable modems.
did you actually do any research or are you just believing whatever you happened to hear at the water tank in the office. I personally love researching environmentaly safe engine and I feel alcohol is a much better answer than fuel cell.
>clean ways to dispose can be created...
Untill they are maybe we shouldn't be making the product.
Ummm...I would be willing to bet you do not own a car that was brush painted. And no paint on your car is not like brush on plastic. If you ever see a GM paint line you'll understand. They spray on 2 layers of heavy paint then ussually 2 layers of clear coating on top of this, the clear coating is an acrylic, very different than the chemical makeup of this plastic, the paint is more akin to a glue than to a plastic, for instance if your clear coat starts to go south, try buffing it with a high speed buffer, you'll often notice the the heat will actually meld the clear coat over scratches and it will be nice and shiny again.
I have never seen one of these on the road, and oh boy I am happy. What's it's zero to sixty, and why is it ugly?
I took my plastics course in college my junior year, and if I remember something about plastic as aposed to steal, when it's cold out, your screwed.
The deformation curve changes drastically with temperatures, up in michigan where I live you could take a rock to the hood and suddenly not have one anymore.
Viva la Steel
I don't think you really want fuel cells, have you seen the cost to environment of disposing of fuel cells, they're clean running while in the cars, I completely admit, but when you have to get a new one, or you dispose of the car, the inside of a fuel cell is a nightmare to the environment.
When you look at a paintjob on the hood of your transam, like mine, My black paint job, is clear to the look, like looking in a mirror, it reflects the clouds and they roll across my hood as I drive, now imagine if you waxed your car and didn't take the wax off. That is what this film would look like on your car.
On a good paintjob you actually do look "through" at least two layers of clear coat, this gives the paint its depth, its shine, I don't want this to go away is all. Beautiful cars are my passion.
wait I have seen this film used on a table I purchased for outside my home, the film starts to glaze over after a year, and makes looking through it, like looking through a smudged piece of glass, after I see a car five years after this stuff has been used, then, I'll consider it. And yes, I saw this comercial a while ago, slash dot will post anything as news.
What are the affects of the sun on this plastic. Because of the construction of most polymers, ultravolet radiation ussually has terrible affects on them. And how do you wax a piece of plastic? Will the whole world suddenly be driving Saturns?
ARE YOU INSANE...Space flight is pretty safe for what it entails, do you think they have just been slacking off and that is why this happens, jesus people, going into space is dangerous, hell the training is dangerous, astronauts know this, and quite honestly a shuttle crew of people dieing just doesn't hit me that hard, I mean sure it's a travesty, but they knew the dangers. Why do we raise such a cry over this, but no one seems to care about the 10 automobile deaths a day, or the like 50 handgun homicides a day, or the other thousand ways people die violently every day.
It went up, it came down, people died, tear, tear, get over it.
Ok, they were in low orbit, travelling at Mach 18, and you want to send up a rescue mission. First of all i don't even want to get into the difficulties of transferring a crew from one shuttle to another, but lets talk about the impossibility of just sending up another shuttle at the last minute. NASA waits months for just the right weather conditions to send up a shuttle. You can't just hop in a shuttle and go up whenever you feel like it.
And Repairing the belly in space would be like trying to weld the hull of a ship at 30 knots while hanging on underwater.
You don't know anyone with pirated XP. Three people outside my office have it on their home computers, you don't need an activation to install, just to update, and that is a simple matter to get around.
finally some people that although we know Windows isn't the fastest OS we can start to accept that it isn't the evil put here by the devil. For instance ever try and install an RPM and have it say you haven't selected the right library. Damn that's annoying. lol
That would be great if Microsoft made a linux distro, maybe it would look a hell of a lot better than Redhat 7.2 did when I installed it, and hopefully some of my games would work and my printer upon first install would be recognized automatically and not print funky lines all over my paper

There is a link to one of those TCO comparisons. The issue is that that all of the TCOs just refer to linux on the server end, no one even considers linux on the desktop end. I once posed the question for slash dotters to refer back to me with known companies that use linux as their desktop standard, I ask that you respond only with large corporations that aren't sun or linux companies, for obvious reasons.
Why have you installed every flavor of Windows? and how recently, where did you administer these networks. Ever try installing Novel, I have, on several servers, you better know what your doing like I did or your going to hell in a hand bag, but linux easier to install than windows? I don't think so, I mean it says things like HD3/1 and such for partitions, that scares people, they want to see, C drive has this much data, can I install here?
Oh and as an administrator you probably have no concept what is easy for the standard user, because you don't remember what it is like to be one. I know this often gets me, but when I talk to my friends at other companies that do business with my consulting firm then I understand what a real end user is.
not all users have the time to sit and download new programs, I think an OS should come prepared to play all standard media formats. And I think when he said games, he meant real games, and not just quake. I play Hitman 2, Lord of the Rings, Battlefield 1942, GTA3 and you want to know how well these run on my Linux boot, oh, they don't. lol
In windows that Dual-Headed setup would be extremely easy. Another linux failure. Windows figured out how to make that easy in 98, what taking linux so long to make things more user friendly. Like still having to mount drives, that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

no cable and fiber are quite different most cables run off copper coax
