I can guarantee that no more than 5% of jobs were lost to outsourcing in Q1. And if you're looking to Kerry or the Democratic party to fix your outsourcing problems, you will seriously regret it. There is very little that the U.S. can do to prevent outsourcing before companies start packing and move out of the country.
I find it fairly easy to spot cheaters when watching them from a first-person view, this is either a rare ability or most people just don't care (probably the latter), because I get kicked out of cs servers and other game servers all the time by admins who claim I cheat. When I'm dead, I tend to watch the people with the best k:d, and many times I'll see people who are obviously (obvious to me, at least) not cheating, yet the same happens for them.
The best way to find a game without cheats, though, is definately to find a game with a smaller dedicated community that has an active anti-cheat.
I wouldn't go T1 for a 160-unit condo. T1 is just simply much too slow, giving you only 1.5mbit downstream. I would go with a DS3, although much more expensive, or a single OC wire. Sure, they will cost much more than a T1, but it would be much better than having say 30 people on a single T1 downloading anything at the same time. Even websurfing would be rather slow if enough people were using it at the same time.
This is getting way off-topic. The point isn't that his grades suck, it's the fact that this is happening, and whether or not it is legal. Plus the security.
As a student, I know how much this sucks.
But then again, when I become a parent, I know that I'll be glad that things like this are around.
Security is only a small problem.. why the hell would a student hack it just to find out someone else's grades? They won't be able to change their own through it.
Why doesn't someone just write an AIM client (and ICQ/MSN/IRC) where the administrator can set a specific port for each, then log that port, and be able to enable/disable file transfers and such?
If I had the time or expertise, I would do something like this.. but currently I would go to AOL (for just AIM/ICQ) or Cerulean Studios (the makers of Trillian, for access to AIM/ICQ/MSN/YIM/IRC) and ask about the possiblity of a special school edition such as this.
Also, state law shouldn't be a problem anyways, as a good router can log all incoming/outgoing traffic anyway.
