If they are going to put the barcode on, say the inside of "your" wrist, I wonder have they thought about what could happen to a checkout person who's barcode just happens to be say "Milk" !!
Could you then take them to court for damages ? ie you can no longer work at your chosen trade.
I find it funny to see Knuth popping up here. Last week I got hold of The Art of Computer Programming Vol 1 to look through the lists and tree stuff again. It gets better everytime I look at it. I was however wondering if anyone else has a source of similar quality info but taking more consideration of the effects of a SMP machine, locks, cache, NUMA etc.
Under M$-WIN* it might be missing pipes etc but these things are hardly "learn to program" stuff. I dont actually use M$-WIN* stuff when I can get away with it and I have as yet never had the need to program using any of their stuff. The schools dont *NEED* to switch to a *NIX based system, then again maybe they dont *NEED* to switch to M$-WIN* either.:-)

Why do they need to deploy *NIX in the schools. Python exists under M$-WIN*
