Well im afrade that you have to realise that linux isn ot he only os about. Windows has had resuming of both ftp and HTTP download for years now with programs like GETRIGHT and Flash GET. So resuming is not an issue for 80% of the Internet population. HTTP is userly faster then ftp and has no problem with firewalls.
Dont limit your views to *nix based systems or you become as bast as windows users.
