I don't want it to seem like I am trying to discredit CBBS but it seems to me that almost 30 years ago there were 2 services available - Comp-u-serve and The Source. These were axcessable via dialup or DataPac. Both were BBS style services and very popular. In 1975 I ran a BBS in Victoria, BC, Canada for the Island Microcomputer Society. It was written in DecBasic and was running on a Digital PDP-11/20 with a 12 line Gandalf 300 baud frontend.
