Righteo, the reason by satellite:
It's to a remote area in Fiji, connecting to here to provide internet access via our 150Mb fibre backbone.
Why us? I don't know, management don't tell techs anything. I would have thought Telstra could provide the setup cheaper seeing they'd already have the infrastructure. We have the modulators, upconverters, dishes, etc. (we're a satellite broadcasting company) but none of the IP data kit for satellite use, just your standard LAN/WAN fitout.
I did come accross Unidirectional Link Routing, and noticed it was supported by software from UDCast (http://www.udcast.com/) and also in IOS 12.1 from Cisco. Anyone had any experience with these?
