  1. FreeBSD or linux on Clearing up FreeBSD confusion · · Score: 1

Im getting a new computer soon. Id like to know why should I run FreeBSD instead of Linux, or Linux instead of FreeBSD. Lets say both of them support my new hardware, and I will only use c and java compilers, plus emacs.

Somehow I feel that even if I show you "an implementation of JAva that allows HotJava to go through entir...", most of slashdotters will find something else to complain about java. Somehow I feel even with a 100% reliable, and fast JVM they wouldnt even try to write a single line in Java. Why? Because is not C-or-Linux-or-Perl.

(I say *most* of them, not *all* of them)

I agree with you. It seems they are not going to accept anything different from Linux/C/Perl ever. The will keep on complaining about Java (most of them have never tried to write a single line in Java). They will keep on writing things like "abandon the ship", but calling any little critic against Linux FUD.

Too much hostility here. I hope JavaLobby wont get like this.
