If it does the job, why switch. If I ever find MySQL can't handle something that I need to do with an app, then I will certainly start looking at Postgres. Right now, I'm not concerned with a lot of the features that postgres has. I'm using it to do simple table queries in small apps.
I first started using it because that's what the hosting company had installed on my web server. So I used it. I've been using it ever since because I haven't had any problems with it.

Had a client in NJ who had to communicate with an office in Hong Kong. The email sent to Hong Kong was being bounced back to them. I asked what the error message was. They of course did not have full details, just that it was 'not sent'. I asked them to forward one of the bounce backs. They deleted them already. I asked them if this was the only place they couldn't send email. They said they had no problems sending to anyone else.
Without seeing the message I could tell that it was either A) they typed the address or domain wrong, or B) the domain was down so email couldn't get through.
They insisted that we fix the problem. I did a ping and traceroute from several locations to that domain, no luck. It was down. I explained that to them, they told me I was full of it. I told them if they get another bounce back, to just forward it to me. 2 days go by, nothing.
THEN, I get this curious message in my inbox. It's from Barbara@idiotclient.ext and it was CC'ed to me, but TO someone @idiotclient-hk.ext. It read: " So-and-so, email is still not working, please fax over the information. Call me if you have questions.
- Barabara"
OK, so, email isn't working, so let's send email to tell you to call me. DOHT!
Much like Hollywood "re-tells" old movies, this is just a re-telling of the old McCarthy Hearings in the 50s. Instead of Communism, they're searching for any remote link to terrorism. If you have a friend who's muslim, they'll claim you're doing something that supports terrorism, even if your friend was born and raised in the US.
They'll slap a fake nose on you and label you a terrorist because you float in water. It's just that ridiculous.
