  1. Re:Do *any* of you have Children?!?! on South Park The Movie · · Score: 1

Yes. I have children. No, I would not take them to see this film, at least not until they're old enough to view it responsibly.

Why does the mere existence of a film somehow threaten children? The world is utterly full of things which harm children, including, sometimes, their own parents. Not much in the media about that, though, until some parent kills or otherwise seriously injures their child (like, oh, setting them on fire).

The world is not a nice place. It's big, it's scary, it's dangerous. There are terrible things in it, things waiting to harm little children at the first opportunity. I hardly think of dirty words as the biggest problem facing the children of the world. I think I'd put famine, disease, abuse, and neglect just a bit higher on the scale.

Yet the media, and some parents, gets all worked up over a movie which is rated in such a way that children shouldn't be able to get in anyway.

    Get some perspective, mate.

  2. Re:What about the original South Park? on South Park The Movie · · Score: 1

I remember it well. A former flatmate and I made special keyrings that said "WWBBD" in reference to that episode, where the kids, watching Santa and Jesus fight, say "What would Brian Boitano do?"

Offensive? Potentially, yes. But it was certainly making a point about the nature of Christmas and what it really represents to most kids.

    Ham.

No, not HAM you fat f*ck!
