i have 7 or 8 non-geek friends who play AA... (and 30-40 non-geek friends all together). I played it a few times, the people who played it were not geeks for the most part.
not exactly. Is it worth a couple hundred innocent lives to possibly save tens of thousands in the future? Yes. (even with the possibly, I have to say yes)
Is it worth it to get rid of 12,000,000 people to increase the "scapegoatness"? No, that's not even a question because Hitler was a madman and it's completely illogical.
no need.
With games like SOCOM and America's Army floating around, people are joining the army like crazy. They're still turning most people down who want to join, so a draft won't be happening for a while.
Geeks, of course, always go for the term that would sound coolest on the bridge of the Enterprise.
that's what being a geek's all about. Cool Names = more people think you're a nerd = more isolation from the "norm" = more time alone at home going to... certain... websites...
partly true, partly false. Cooling a CPU increases its lifespan (as if they'll die before they're 1/1000 the speed of newer cheaper processors). All you have to do is cool AROUND the threads. They can get as hot as they want, and as long as they don't melt the silicon (around) or other stuff, it should be perfectly fine. If I could have a processor cooled to 20 K, i'd do it.
although this comment may seem like flamebait at first to all the bias linux hugging moderators, it most certainly is not.
The above user understands that the Windows OS's are much larger (negative) and more advanced (positive). It is coded by thousands of professionals who are paid very well.
"Superior" isn't far off from what Windows is to Linux. Superior does not necessarily mean "better" (I am superior to my younger sister, for example), it simply means that it is used more in the real world (The OS's, not me vs. my sister) and more practical when it comes to "which one should i learn?".
Now think about it, which OS is used more in the real world? that's right! Windows.
fine, make it 100 types of people, those who know it, those who don't, those who laugh cus they think they do but don't, and those who get angry cus they think they know it but don't.
No, if you read the rest of the signature, that's 3 types of people. As said above, most people start counting at 1, not 0. if there were 0b00 types of people then no one would exist.
I run a calculator game website. Not many business/important people in my forums;)... anyone who uses one of those passwords for business/important purposes needs to get "hacked" (i don't think it's called hacking at this level, just creative guessing...) so they learn a lesson. (it's unfortunate, but better sooner rather than later; usually)
hmmm.... my website has 312 users... yours is definitely more accurate =). we do have "mustang", "fish", and "6969" in there.. probably a few others on your top list but none that i can think of off the top of my head.
I use only one password, which is probably stupid, but it's one of the most random things ever that no one will ever think of. (then of course there's the owners of websites who have access to it, but either they don't care about me or i trust them)... lots of people just really don't care what people do with their identity.. mainly cus people can't do much with it.
sorry, why does that mean that hyper threading is not better? HT is most certainly better for game servers than non-HT chips. It's great for game servers because game servers like to multi-task once in a while (amazing!)
for once a security problem that isn't really Microsoft's fault
this is the first time it's not Microsoft's fault? This is just another one where the user has a choice. He/She can choose a bad password, or they can be smarter than that. He/She can choose to use Windows, or they can be smarter than that.
no, there's a difference between "cartoony" and "unrealistic". all zelda games are "unrealistic". cartoony is a sub-category of unrealistic. cartoony is bright, flat colors.
um.... since when was a byte more than 8 bits? It IS more than a gigabyte (if it's Gb and not GB)
impatient people... can't even wait 5 minutes nowadays... geesh...

looks like /. got slashdotted...
you're supporting the troops because they're risking their lives to liberate a country that has little to nothing to do with their lives back home.
there's a big difference between following orders to murder 12,000,000 people and following orders to liberate a country.
no need. With games like SOCOM and America's Army floating around, people are joining the army like crazy. They're still turning most people down who want to join, so a draft won't be happening for a while.
that was fast.
I still think they should wait a day or 2 for some more psychological effect on the people, and possibly more defections.
anyone know if the sandstorm is worse for American troops and equipment or iraqi visibility?
now we can go looking in trees for our paycheck
2. Sell it to people who don't want to burn holes in their pants. 3. Profit 4. Laugh at the people who thought it was a bad idea.

They can get as hot as they want, and as long as they don't melt the silicon (around) or other stuff, it should be perfectly fine
sorry; i guess that may have been misleading. The hotter the metal gets, the slower it goes, but we're talking about cooling it even more, so yeah...

The above post is 'interesting', not flamebait.

Matt Groening (sp?) came up with this concept no more than 4 years ago.
not mine... i spent a good 15 minutes writing a script for that comment that counts all that stuff.
thanks for the gratitude for my "informative" comment.

if the hackers need any help, here are the most common passwords for my website:
password, mypassword, asdf, fdsa, [the user's username], [the user's username backwards], guitar, qwerty, starwars, [the user's first name], [the user's last name], [the user's initials], internet, love, 12345 (spaceballs...), mercedes, batman, superman, ilove[insert name of opposite sex], [username]420, computer.
9.1% of passwords are "password", 2.6% of passwords are the username, 1.7% of passwords are the user's first name.
hope that helps!

who says it's always true? multi-tasking is still an issue. if the string $i changes instantly (and magically), it won't be true.
(and yes, i'm kidding)
