Yeah, going to go ahead and have to say that you're doing something wrong. I've got a lot of complaints about Hangouts text-chat in gmail and android, but the video conferencing is by far the best I have ever used.
I find the new hangout app on android to be unusable. It looks nice, but there is no way to simply sort up to the top people who are online / available. This makes me a lot less likely to want to chat because I don't want to bother people who might be busy.
The hangout thing in gmail is also pretty, but I could not find a way to disable the sounds. *BLING* every time my window is not focused.
They are dropping reader, gchat is gimped. If they mess up gmail/calendar I might wonder why I even use google.
Great, a big light so that I can confront the person who just took a picture of me going to the bathroom. Not to mention the photo has already been uploaded to Google during said awkward confrontation, and that pictures might not actually be deleted when you "delete" them.
TFA mostly talks about what it's like being around other people wearing glass. Then, potentially taking pictures of you going to the bathroom -- perhaps even accidentally. No one is forcing you to wear it, but you may be an unwilling participant in the product's capabilities and Google's services.
No worries though, I'm sure google will just write in "private parts" detection, using all of those pictures as data to improve the detection over time. Pictures of you whizzing in the bathroom will be immortalized in an AI forever. Amazing!
They don't owe anything to their users using free services, of course. But, it would be polite to at least provide the information saying they've shut it down rather than it disappearing with no notice. It would have been nice to provide advance notice. Required? No. More likely to leave people still feeling OK about enjoying other Google products? Yes.
They don't really. A d-pad and button overlay on a game, especially on a small screen is not very appealing. Also, phone/tablet games often work best when they are games you can pick up and put down like a toy quickly. Most more immersive RPGs as they are currently designed don't lend themselves to this. There is a good bit to figure out there.
Having installed an SSD for the purpose of caching my HDD, I'm afraid I must disagree. The performance gain really has been pretty amazing, and it's really great having a 2TB drive that is automatically cached to whatever I happen to be using the most. SSDs cost way more per GB, so I could buy a smaller one. HDDs are way slower, but I don't commonly hit that data. I really can't identify any disadvantages with what I did, except that installation took a bit to figure out. A hybrid drive would make installation much easier.
I will concede, you are correct that once SSD cost/GB is the same or less than HDD, there may not be a point for HDD. But, this looks to be quite some time from now. I want more performance now.

So it might not be your definition of 'money'. But, it's something that has value and can be used to trade for other currencies, goods, and services. What is it?
I was also unimpressed by the results on the website. Yeah, there are insecure devices out there. I was surprised by how few these searches would turn up.
It would really only be a 1 minute investment to understand that it's not just about HTML forms.
The article is pretty awful, but your understanding of "REST" is pretty poor. Might give that a second lookup.
I wouldn't go that far. The feature I want that's missing is extremely simple. If they added it back, I would love the new app.

Never used that aspect, so I guess I don't mind there personally. I do feel for those who got hit by that though.
MS has a monopoly on what today?

Sorry about that, TFA from another slashdot post just a moment ago about Glass. Regardless, I think this point is valid.

Well, if they don't figure out how to make money off of it.
LOL, good sir, LOL.

You might want to read up on how caching works. This is done all the time between HD/RAM/CPU, and is fundamental to computer architecture.
640K is more memory than anyone will ever need.

In this case, you should probably learn more about what's going on with copyright.
I didn't get headlines when I did the same thing in elementary school. Radical thought: This should be a part of standard curriculum.
Using facebook as the data source? No thank you.

Just because I use a YouTube website, doesn't mean I would also want a YouTube-based TV.
That phone was a complete flop and laughed at in the United States.
