  1. Surprising with no UI on Android TV Now Claiming Over 100 Pay TV Operator Partners Worldwide (multichannel.com) · · Score: 1

I've been disappointed with Google TV. I do not like that it doesn't have a UI like Roku or Amazon Fire TV. I do not wish to use my cell phone or voice commands as the only way of controlling the device.

I appreciate what they are going for, but the brightness is still too high for me to use at night. On Android I could get an app to lower the brightness of the whole system, but all I see for iOS are dimmer browser apps of dubious origin.

Yup, Say IT wants to improve core functionality, but medical wants a new shiny feature. Medical gets the new software on aging servers because "it effects patient care."

  5. Re:This may explain... on The Challenges of Class Balance In MMOGs · · Score: 2, Interesting

There are two sides to this and both are valid. On the one side everyone wants a unique experience with varied classes. On the other hand no one wants to play a class for months or years only to be underpowered in the endgame. Skills that are fun have nothing to do with survivability and damage output. Providing all players with the same chance to be great means that classes and races get more similar. This is not as important for parties where you can have varied pros and cons spread out between players, but for single player pve or pvp all the classes really need to be the same to allow for anyone to win based on skill and not racials/skills. ï It does seem strange for a game to lose so much "fun" and variety in order to provide everyone with a "fun" experience.

  6. Have them watch anything on Science Documentaries for Youngsters? · · Score: 1

Have them watch any documentaries that they are interested in. A certain show may be too complicated for them, but they will ask questions and learn much more than the possibly could from the drivel that is actually aimed at children. I used to always watch PBS with my family and pick up the books my father read. I rarely understood much at first, but I learned to think this way. My questions at first were silly, but after another year or so, I learned how to piece information together. I am a firm believer that if you treat children like children they will stay children.

  7. of course there should be proofs on Should Wikipedia Allow Mathematical Proofs? · · Score: 1

there is no reason for wikipedia to turn down any true and factual information. why should they exclude some proofs? text books have to make these choices due to page constraints. wikipedia has no such problems. Being able to get more information from wikipedia than you can from a book is its greatest strength.
