Or you could just use 'vim' as your default editor from within Pine:

--Go to Setup | Enable Alternate Editor && Enable Alternate Editor implicitly
--Also in Setup, set the "Editor" command to "/path/to/vim"

Voila! All your editing is done using good ole vim ;)
