I am currently employed as an ER nurse in a moderately-sized city. While in nursing school, I worked as an ER tech. My first career was electrical engineering (hardware and software design)...and my very first job was working as a "grunt" in a warehouse!
ER doctors - and other physicians - run the gamut just like nurses, techs, engineers, general laborers, etc...some are arrogant, but many are kind and considerate with other staff and patients alike.
If that story is true, I do think it is unjustifiable to refuse to lab tests because the doctor didn't say please. Patient care should not be compromised!
