Nah...That's a pussy truck. Someone should have used one a Caterpillar 797 For more info about the truck that hauls 360 tons check out the article from car and driver a few years back. While it certainly rule out any chances of sneaking up on an enemy in combat, I think it could probably take whatever bumps/dips/light trucks it encounters in stride.

  2. MoTeC or nothing... on Interacting with Onboard Car Computers? · · Score: 1

As far as engine control goes, it is hard to beat Motec's line of ECU's. While it is designed for racing applications, it is completely capable of being tuned for a road vehicle. They offer a huge variety of sensors and have some other trick items like a replacement dash that is configureable and has 8 Mb of memory for logging data from sensors. Also trick is the fact that it supports telemetry via serial I/O and high speed bi-directional CAN. It can be adapted to implement traction control, control a nitrous system, and a wide variety of other things. And if you are feeling really adventurous they offer a geek racer steering wheel complete with LCD read out and programable warning LED's. More importantly it is programmed in realtime via an interface to a PC. So it can be the perfect complement to engineering something to control multimedia devices and enviornment controls. If anyone in the US is interested, I would contact Bob Norwood at Norwood Autocraft. For more geek quotient, he is the man who built John Carmacks Ferrari's into the transmission eating beasts that they are, and used MoTeC's on all of them. Keep us updated on what you figure out as I am a car guy and very interested in your project.

InDesign will export tagged XML, PDF(very easily), HTML, etc. Additionally, if you are running on a mac, it is very scriptable using AppleScript. It has a large detailed scripting manual available online at adobe developer site. And yes, it imports word docs including styles, tables, etc.

Ahhhh...that would only matter if SMU had a T3. A few years back when I was in school at the godforsaken(literaly, they are no longer recognized by the methodist church) place I believe there were a whopping two or three T1's feeding the campus. Which sucks a** when you live on campus. The IT dept. there is less then fun to deal with to get anything done...aside from the bandwidth efficiencies. But hey...as long as someone is still running a meth lab in the meadows arts building the IT budget should expand over time.

While if you do some simple math (50 good attorneys @ $250 an hour working 70 hours a week) certainly adds up very quickly until you factor in that most attorneys are greedy thieving bastards who are willing to forgoe regular fees in a case like this for a chunk of the settlement. I can see them drooling over a number on a sheet of paper already instead of judging the viability of the case. I'm sure that the number the have in mind is much like SCO...lots of zero's involved.
