Doesn't NTP have an obligation to mitigate their damages? How is sitting on a patent and waiting until the product is popular to sue an example of mitigating damages?
I imagine that most databases are read far more than they are written, if all new writes or modifications of data were immediately written to hard drive, wouldn't that create a minimal performance hit while preventing any data loss due to catastrophe?
Radio waves do not necessarily suggest that vocal or audio information is the modulating waveform. In fact I believe the radio waves sent out in to space from earth (on purpose) are prime numbers and pictures, but what do I know, I get my info from the movies.
You may be liable for negligence on the job if you are a licensed engineer or not, but generally if you are a professional engineer you can be liable for any advice you give.
Let me give an example from my "Law and Ethics for Engineers" class, I'll compress it in intrest of brevity.

Basically this course was a drawn out way of saying "Always cover your arse"
