Backup drives. We use (and sell to our clients) large USB drives that get switched out every day instead of tapes. They're a little more fragile than tape, but a 1TB drive holds a lot more than a DAT 72.
I'm not sure about the FSB speeds and all that, but I'm pretty sure that a lot of their focus on SSE3 and other new features has to do with the impending Apple switch to Intel platforms and the new Vista interface. A lot of the stuff that goes into their Xeon processors is just left over from other processors and included for compatibility.
There's a big difference between the people who write closed source code and the people who steal other people's work. This really says nothing about the quality of open vs. closed source code, or the people who write either one. It simply restates the fact that there are people out there who will do anything they want for money.
