how a DVR Fast Forwarding through a commercial is any different then a VCR that taped a show doing the same exact thing for the past how many years? yeah that's what i thought.
I recently went through something similar a while back. My current job is as a computer technician at a college, i'm not full time because there is no full time position and i am paid hourly.
About 4 months ago now i went in for an interview with a company that offered me a job. The description of the job was it was a 7 year layout of a job doing support for software, and by the end of the conversation, he outlined exactly what i would be doing and i was a glorified page turner. I would have, for the first 4 years, been quite literally looking at a fix book reading off possible answers to problems and moving to the next. For a guy who wishs to do hardware support or move into the area of network support, this is obviously not feeling like a step in the right direction.
SO like the gentleman who started this article, sometimes when you don't see your goals, even the pay can't justify the job (in my case it was almost double what i'm making now plus benefeits, which i currently do not have). Personally, to me it all seems about your situation and your personal conviction.
at home, i have a Performa 6116 CD that runs a 9 gig MP3 server for my father and mother
i have a Dual Celeron 300A BP6 motherboard runnign linux as an apache server and samba server in the house
and at work we have a database program to store college textbooks written in Q Basic that is still used (and gives us a great many headaches)
yes, i use PC's, yes i use mac's, no im not gunna go fanaticle on either, here it is how i see it
Kids want simple
Admin's want easy
They aren't (hopefully) going to try and install games on these things, they are learning machines, so why use a PC?
besides, the mac's resale better later on, they have all the school software the kids need for an office suite, they have alot of educational software already out there, they are easy to admin, and well, kids can learn a bit of unix if they want (it's good, puts hair on your chin and all that)
besides, if it's a windows laptop, then all your teachers have to be avid PC users because when it breaks, they will have to fix it, or have a support staff on hand for when these things break, kids have a much harder time breaking a mac and it's a ton easier to fix, besides, for those with kids, don't they seem to find the oddest ways to break them and never know what happenned?

so let me get this traight, after the 4th game in a series all pretty much abotu the same thing you don't know what the game is about (point 1) it has a mature rating for 17 and over (point 2) the parents, mayeb after seeing the youths play the game don't take it away or at least say something about it (point 4) AND NO ONE IS BOTHERING TO ASK WHY A 14 YEAR OLD AND A 16 YEAR OLD HAVE A 22 CALIBER RIFLE (he shoots he scores) come on people get a clue, be a parent, take some control, and for cripes sake, quite blaming everyone else. we grew up on these games and for the most part have no problems with reality, we were told by our parents, hey it's fake, don't do it in real life, i mean come ON! and if the court awards the parents, i swear, im moving to the moon, pronto

1200 more on a system with higher capabilities for a specialized market, or for someone who works directly as an apple programmer....
