  2. Re:Hang on a second... on Tolkien Reading From The Two Towers · · Score: 1

Questionable whether the elves were "the supreme race"; they'd done nothing but get slaughtered
since Feanor led them in his arrogance out of the west to Middle Earth. Theirs is the mythology; the
hobbits just stumbled into it (or were called, depending on how analytical you want to be.)

two more things: to send the Ring via a little
"insignificant" hobbit puts Sauron et al "out
of their depth completely; it's the last thing
they would ever suspect the powers of the west
    to do...and:
Frodo (and Bilbo) were chosen by a power stronger
than the Ring's; the Ring was on its way back to
Sauron, having felt his power stirring nearby in
the Necromancer's fortress. It should have chosen
a goblin (or Smeagol himself)(I'd forgotten that
name till I listened to the tape)to take itself
back to its maker, but instead it "slips off
Gollum's finger" into the hands of that most
unlikely of ringbearers: Bilbo. And he, suffering
under the ring's enchantment, still for the good
of all manages to GIVE THE RING AWAY. This MUST
have been the influence of the power of the west.

Then why can't he fight? He's relatively
powerless in Leon's grasp, much less in
Roy's; even Priss is twice his strength
at least. He has a considerable past, at
least with Bryant and Gaff and the people
    in the community (lunch counter).
But, if Ridley says so, then I
guess it must be so, unless he's letting
the urban legend drum up some further
    interest...

The artist holds the right to copy, but the mechanism to distribute belongs to the suits. They will screw all concerned if they can increase profit ("enhance shareholder value") by doing so.
So where is the mechanism for free distribution for the artist who chooses to do so? NAPSTER!
The planet should now proceed to produce NEW
MUSIC (and other art) to feed the newly-created need, shouldn't it? and the pirates should then refuse to support the artists who "sell out"?
