If you understand the layers that are involved then there is no reason why you can't code by hand. In fact, I would say it is the only way to develope a large site. Kiddy tools like Dreamweaver hide way to much from you. You have to get down to the code if you want to optimize and/or simplify the code. Think of it this way, Manual or automatic transmition. Manual is the best way to date to comunicate to the car what you plan to do (I see a hill, better change gears). I do all my asp and java development in BBEdit. Thanks to Samba and BBEdit, my Mac is the best development tool ever, be it Windows, Mac, Java...

I expect that apple has had many many discutions with the music indistry about this. Steve J. does not belive in any restrictions. But I bet 5 would be "mass production" in the eyes of the RIAA. As for me, I just keep all my music on my ipod.

I don't think there is anything wrong with non-descriptive application names (Like flash, acrobat, quicktime, Mozilla, ...). Hell, as time goes by, all the really good names like vi and emacs will be taken, you have to pick strange names just to differentiate your self from the herd of other names. This guy just need to get over the fact that sometimes applications have strange names. As long as it works who cares what it's called just don't make me have to type "TheFreePhotoShopLikeApplicationThatWorksJustAsWel l" evertime I want to run it. Now who would want that when you could just type gimp?

Could someone please explain to me why there is such a "need" to have Mac OS X on an x86 processor? Why is it a good thing to run on a processer with 4 registers (8 if you use the address registers for non address calculations) and an outdated asm languages when 32 registers and risc is just so much fun? Their are a lot of different processors out there and I really don't think x86 is the best in the world. Why would anyone what to run any code on anything made by intel. I'm not trying to start a flame here, I just want to know why so many people want x86 over anything else (mips, sparc, hp-risc, power-pc).
