I work for a charity in Atlanta that helps children in homeless shelters (Children's Restoration Network). We have a recycled bookstore where people donate books that we resell to raise money for our org. Someone donated a bunch of those "things to do on the internet for kids" books. I would also recommend this site about homelessness in America that has some stuff geared toward educating kids about other homeless kids, which is cool if they ever get interested in community service or something like that.
