I forgot to also add that they can track and disable the port you are entering the network on the switch. You can still plug into another port but w/o a switch/hub you are dead in the water (1 port per person living capacity in room, and even then a switch doesn't always work either) Some guys that were using high bandwidth out from their machines had this occur to them.
I'm a student at WSU and they serve out addresses using DHCP. You have to have registered your MAC addredd before you get an internet using IP, otherwise it just gives you a 192.168.?.? and redirects you to an internal site to "register" your computer. I haven't had a chance to manually type in an IP address on a "unregistered" card to see how it reacts but when I was in a dorm on a different subnet it wasn't getting the IP address information at all.
I think 5 words a second is resonable. 300 baud ~ 300 bits/sec each character is about 10 bits (8 + start/stop bits) so it is about 30 characters/sec using normalish 5 characters word 30 characters/sec / 5 characters word = 6 words/sec Even at 8 bits/character it would still only be 7.5 words/sec. And all of this doesn't count spaces between the words.
What about doing a bootable CD with FreeDOS (or something) for the basic DOS like OS. This could be useful if you have a machine that doesn't have a floppy drive installed as well. Plus booting from CDs seems to be lots faster than booting from a floppy.

How about just type 1 letter of your password, jump to another window and type stuff, go back type the next letter, go to a window and type stuff, ect. That way your password is there but there is gibberish between each of the letters.

So if they "claim" to have looked it doesn't mater, if they have the deceptive items in it they are bustable. I wonder that if the hotmail servers are located in Washington if "from a computer located in Washington" part of the law applies so people else where can have it enforced (as if the people actually send it with the start point on a hotmail server).
They hold about 150MB of data. From what I read somewhere, might be incorrect, there are some MD drives but they will not read the audio off of the audio MDs so it isn't like a CD drive where you can drop a data or audio disc in and get at it. And I agree that they are nice, even nicer is the fact is that they have their own caddy type thing so they can't get scratched as easily. Of course I have only seen one person that actually owned a MD player... (doesn't help that the cheap ones at BestBuy are still about several times more expensive than a cheap CD player.) When I had a choice between a MD and MP3 player, I got the MP3 player, mainly because it has the 10GB hard drive for data transfer.

Nintendo pulled out of their contract with Sony, and started it with Philips, for a CD unit ad-on for the Super Nintendo in 1991 more info here, and Sega had their SegaCD unit coming out in 1992. So if they were looking at the gaming magazines they might have seen these units and decided to make something similar to them. Using CDs might have also exsited as a way to do minor copy protection of some source, because the burners weren't consumer items yet.
I use hotmail (sometimes) and my account is set to the second most strict junk mail setting, right bellow only allow these emails through. I look at the spam I get and they are either: A: sent from a non-existent domain (junk.837 for example, and yes they use numbers for their TLD) or B: have < - - J - - > (where J is some capital letter) in them so mozilla doesn't show it but the viewing the source shows it. I like the idea of this filtering, or even filter by content because I could catch 90% of the spam I currently receive on email address that I haven't given to anybody.

I think this policy is true for many big name stores now. My thought behind this is because if it has been opened you could have copied it.
I think it is allowed because I recall reading in a QST, magazine produced by ARRL, where they asked questions and if I was listening to a sound file being sent over 1200 baud packet (slow I know, but only sound I can think of right now) it is gonna sound like a modem sending data, not really music to most people. I think the no-music part is more for people so they aren't competing with normal broadcast radio stations, because the amateur radio license is lots cheaper to get than a commerical radio station.
And the dreamcast has a SH4 for its main processor, while the Saturn had 2 SH2s (Main CPUs). (Ok, I know that it isn't a secondary chip (sound in most cases it seems) but from what I have read the SHx chips are binary backwards compatible for the most part, just need some sort of "shell" to play with it and make the SH4 do the work of the 2 SH2s). While an idea, it seems people have looked at it already and it isn't going to happen any time soon.
The DC also has an Arm7 (Yamaha AICA DSP with arm7 at core IIRC) chip (similar to what is in the game boy advanced) for its sound. Someone *might* be able to *maybe* write a GBA emulator the the DC using that Arm7 chip as its main processor, although I don't think it is going to happen.
I seem to recall seeing a patch that was like a syring in that you still applied the insulin, just that it was over a much larger area so it was to be less painful.
Talking about a patch using ultrasonic sound to drive the insulin into the skin. Just another deleivery method, and doesn't offer very much on details.
What about a normal RGB plug for a monitor. That way you set the computer to always put out a 1280x720 (at something like 60hz I think) signal (in HDTV a 720p, found here) and build an RGB to component converter (basic one). That way if you get a big screen that can handle a computer or component in you can just plug the RGB cable in, or if it just HDTV component only you plug that in. Although a DVI would be nice as it can offer both analog and digital signals on the same cable and you can disect for the necessar signals as needed. (Ok, just buy a DVI plug to 15-pin dsub plug thing and work from there).
What about just getting some of the NAS (Network Attached Storage) drives and using those as the storage drives. Or firewire and have the drive(s) sitting else where or in some "quiet" container. (Limited length yes, but if you only have one PVR, what does it matter?)

When I hear it sounding like a dolphin I know it is dead (yes, this happened and it had all of our yearbook ad art on it, only good was replacement (drive was still under warranty) was 4GB instead of 3GB and we started a linux server that lasted till I graduated (soph-senior years in High School))

Haven't been able to find much but it looks as if the Pioneer 10/11 used Intel 4004 chips at the core. They probbably have the extra shielding which adds (some likely large number of dollars, especially if this is 1972-4) to the total cost.

I belive that the digital by end of 2006 is to over-the-air broadcasts only. Cable can still be analog if that is what the cable company chooses.
