It's also alot easier to catch students who attempt to cheat in this manner. Students who try to lift papers from the web have no idea how easy it is to google part of a sentence from their work in quotes. I've had quite a few students who try to get away with this, and are amazed when they get caught. And usually very sorry when the fail the class.
Has anyone ever thought of suing Sony for contributory copyright infringement? I was floored by an endcap display of their products (mp3 players, cd-burners) at Frys. The big sign above the display said: "Download, burn, listen." Something like that. And yet here they are suing everyone else for using the electronics they are trying to sell by encouraging you to dl music. Of course they don't specify that you should be downloading from some legitimate pay service.
The public library is nice, but has a pretty limited selection of titles, plus they're heavily used, and usually gone.
Before we went to netflix, we would only rent 1 or 2 films from Blockbuster, keep them for a few weeks and end up paying a ton for late fees. So the 2 movies we rented ended up costing us 15-20 bucks anyway. I know the laziness is laughable, but now we can rent a lot more, keep them forever, and never pay the late fee (just the $20/mo.);).

At least I don't have to get my astronaut suit dry cleaned. That's starting to get expensive.
