Take an average 9gbyte dvd source image and reduce it to a transmittable size of under 50meg? no problems. 100% lossless compression.
Handheld devices with gigabyes of internal rom storage? nice. Streaming video or tv broadcasts to your mobile phone? why not.
VOD is only one of the many fields this compression method will have a great impact on within the digital media industry, the companies I'm currently in discussion with seem to agree!
