Scared? Of a piece of software only nitwitts and douche bags are embracing? OpenOffice sucks. I think they are taking opportunity of the current openoffice chaos to bring to light the chaos and in-usability of openoffice in the real world.

Um, MS is not saying openoffice is a contender; they are pointing out the reality that openoffice is complete garbage compared to MS office. I use open office at home for personal stuff, word processing and simple spreadsheets. It's slow, lacks features, and there is zero way anyone could exist in the 'real world' with it. And now the project has forked. As soon as I can get a sweet discount on the latest version of office i am going to convert everything over and not look back. The project had so much ope, but in the end they just produced something only an asshat could love.

The problem I have with this video is that it does not only attack openoffice, but open source as a whole. This was a mistake all around and will just piss some people off, while not causing FUD. There are plenty of open source projects that are great replacements for commercial software.

Department stores understand that thefts will happen, and dealing with them will be normal operating procedure. Is theft 'right'? Doesnt matter, just something you have to deal with. Oregon isnt the only state that has to deal with vandals destroying telco equipment, and isnt the only place were you will see this vandalism perpetrated with guns. I know of similar stories from texas, ohio, florida, Pennsylvania, new york... Reality; if you dont consider any common occurrence in your normal business practices you will fail. The world doesnt care about whats right, moral, or any of that crap.

This type of vandalism against telcos happens all the time, its a normal occurrence.

I worked for a ISP that had a POP in the sticks. It's feed would regularly be shot by some stupid hick. There was also only one telco field tech for the area, and it would take him forever to respond and even longer to resolve the issue. The city has its own issues. Once a very large section of copper was stolen from the telco taking out an untold number of consumers.

Because it would look like one string of characters. ..."end.The"... would be look like a single word. This could make parsing text for various purposes a pain. Every character in an initialism such as "F.B.I." would be looked at as a single word string. It also would be a bit harder on the human reader.
