Whatever criticisms you may have of Castronova's Arden I and Arden II projects, you'd be silly to think he's not on the right track. The power of an interactive, stimulating medium like virtual worlds (aka, 3D digital worlds) as a tool for learning doesn't need to be proved since it's already being used. From the US Army to flight training to medical education, it's happening.
-Bringing this medium that to "digital native" kids is a no-brainer; it WILL be done. It's just a question of how and when. We believe it should be done in a way that makes it free to everyone to create content and use the content that others create.
