What? qualitative terms like "warmth" are verboten. one must only use quantitative terms to describe what is essentially a qualitative and aesthetic experience? it's only to the extent that the quantitative produces something of quality that it's worth anything.
Oh, FYI...as for budget concerns regarding turntable-vinyl vs. CD format, the j. tull "benefit" vinyl LP i just picked up for $1 and played on my $400 turntable/cartridge deck just kicked the crap out of my $14 CD played on a $2K Naim cd player, qualitatively speaking, that is.
