  1. Democracy breaks if not everyone try and vote on Is An Uninformed Vote Better Than No Vote? · · Score: 1

It's important for everyone to go and vote to prevent a small political group with active members to "coup" themselves into being elected. No one is 100% informed, it's a sliding scale anyway. Even if you don't think any of the choices deserve to win, always vote for the lesser evil, don't stay home in protest or it will just end up worse since the bad guys will go and vote anyway (like in pre WW2 germany). And next time try to be more informed! :)

  2. Possible dangers of nanoparticles on Nanotech Gone Awry? · · Score: 2, Interesting
I recently heard of research showing that nanoparticles (that is, particle of nanoscale size) can penetrate the blood brain barrier among other things. Aparently they can also enter the body trough the skin and lungs and interact with cells in previously unseen ways etc. That mean great posibilties for new medicines etc of course, but it would also sugest a posibility for serious healt hazards...

Now, why are all geniuses presumed to be men?
(Well, true, most so called geniuses have been men, but thats because of discrimination against women, isn't it?)

  4. Re:When I first read the headline... on Japanese Shuttle Crashes in Sweden · · Score: 1

Yup, it sounds as if it (the shuttle) took of from Sweden. Most likely from Esrange in northernmost Sweden. And that's why it's neither strange nor very dramatic (no sheep for example) that it crashed in a field in Sweden. You see, Esrange is positioned in northern Sweden just because there are vast uninhabited fields where rockets can fall down without causing any problems.

  5. Re:Leidenfrost on Making Ice Cream With Liquid Nitrogen · · Score: 1

A couple of years ago I read about a guy working in a steelwork here in Sweden. Every morning when he arrived to work he plunged his hand trough the glowing, molten metal, without any effect except, of course, the occasional astounded bystander.

Then one summer he got married and the first day of work after the vacation he, as usual, plunged his hand trough the molten metal. And thatâ(TM)s when, in a very painful way, he lost his wedding ring along with his ring fingerâ¦
