  1. Re:Too complicated -- use DVD changers instead on Suggestions for a DVD Video on Demand System? · · Score: 1

Take the above recommendation and combine it with a home entertainment network and you can watch the DVD's on any TV hooked up to cable in your house. Try this web site http://www.crossbarmedia.com. I have used this setup at home and it works great. For under $200 you can set it up (and quickly / easily) to broadcast two sources over your network. It even has it so you can use the vendor supplied remote.

  2. They did it on purpose to abuse your computer on Microsoft Sits on Security Flaw for Six Months · · Score: 2, Funny

I think this was not a flaw but a design to enable MS to spy on your computer, introduce problems, etc. from central servers of their own in order to get you to upgrade, buy more software etc. and to give them a competitive advantage. When somebody discovered it, it took them six months to figure out how to maintain this and not be discovered for another ?? years. That is what the patch truly does.

  3. The only way on Outsourcing As A Source Of U.S. Jobs · · Score: 1

The only way to stop the tide of offshoring is to not buy offshored products. If offshored customer service is poor, stifle it's proliferation by not purchasing products of company's who engage in the practice. Likewise, if the software of offshored development is inferior, don't recommend it's purchase nor buy it yourself. The only way to hurt this practice is through "boycotting." We all know of companies who engage in the practice. What is needed is action and not debate. Reasoning for recommending against the purchase of offshored products is relatively easy. The quality of the product is lacking and therefore risk to the organization is increased. A business case must be made against the practice in order to justify resistance.

Try the Open Office website www.openoffice.org. You can download (or order a CD) with an install ready file on it and install it much like any other MS based program.

There is actually a very slick alternative to Access for the Open Office world. It is MySQL, see http://www.unixodbc.org/doc/OOoMySQL.pdf. The functionality provided is better than access and has the potential of tighter integration with other database products as it is a SQL based product. It doesn't suck like Access.
