why? my fridge light is always off when i open it, so it must be on when i close it, right? Right.

anyway you'll probably need a fisheye lens and some panoramic software to be able to see thing hidden in the crannies!

what about setting all the clocks in the house from one room?

if you put in a radio (SW) reciver all you need to do is set your longitude and your clocks will be acuratte to the second (assuming Dalight sving time does not change to much) of course you could use GPS
and get your longitute thus, but your clocks would only work outside

what about starting the coffee maker from the comfort of your own bed

Isn't coffe meant to wake you up?

his could be a new way to start the car to warm up on a cold day

living in the Med. I have to opposite problem :-)
hmmm turn on the car's AC before you get in it ... shweet

Let's face it, it wouldn't be that bad for siceince if the moon landings turn out to be a hoax. I mean considering the time at which it happend, if NASA were really cabable of prodcing such a hoax on such a large scale, with so much deatil , and still keep it belivable with thoses times' technology well ...... by today who would need a Holodeck!

(not to mention the organisational structure and bugeting, Must have somthing to do with Enron!:-?)

any /.er who also loves literature (I don't mean the latest O'Riely book) will want to help!

  6. dnet A sucsess in it's own right on RC5-64 Success · · Score: 1

I've seen many comments on what this means to security systems, but I think it demonstrates a much more important thing. This succsess has shown that large distributed Volunteer based natwork processing is actually feaisible. Aftr all SETI has nothing to show yet. Those wondering what to do with their space CPU cycles should consider seriously helping the OGR solution which has tangible aplicaions. Also, since the best use of these systems is brute force analisys of lagre packitizable (is that a real word?) data sets it would be interesting to know what other mathematical problems can be dealt with this way.

    Well done to dnet!!
