Quoted from the article "And among the names Lovett used in a letter left for his family was the Neo, an apparent reference to the main character of The Matrix, which is both a movie series and a computer game."...
Instead of pointing out the fact that the movie itself was about cyberpunk, he just said that 'The Matrix' is also a video game.
I guess that's enough to prove that people who write these kind of articles are ignorant about the subject, are mostly scared about things that they just do not understand and they would prefer that everything would stay the same.
Maybe we should forbid weapons and take care of our children instead of trying to find evidences that the actual society is responsible of their acts. Guns do not kill, people do. The same for children, they did not went bad because of the actual world, some grow up bad because WE made this world as it is.
either pay the local Wi-Fi Admin to rent all this stuff: OpenBSD/FreeBSD/NetBSD/Linux VPN, Squid web proxy, icecast server, a locally-shared fileserver, Quake/Half-Life server and such to share costs and assure him a living (without counting the costs of these computers)
or just pay the DSL normal price and not share your connection with someone who will use 95% of the bandwidth (the remaining 5% are reserved for the rest of the building)
Most of the people do not even know how to share their connection correctly.
So few of them would think about getting wireless. Even fewer would think about piercing holes in walls and installing a router.
- XML
- Web services
- Massive development of new languages as PHP/ASP connected with DBs.
- GPRS and UMTS and use on mobile hand devices

Sure that, you cannot do major innovations everyday on a product widely used since some years but there are still innovations, mostly on server side and not on the browser itself, it is true.
It has just reached a point where people will think that innovations are just normal and you can't easily make something that everybody will be staring at amazed. But just by browsing some websites and how you can setup a dynamic portal easily, even if the browser itself has not changed much more (functionality-wise), the contents and the functionnalities that you can browse/use with it have changed alot.
I found some mortgage information at the interesting rate of 250% monthly so I could afford for a MBA in an unknown university and begin to work to settle mydebts and get a new credit card to buy some viagra and increase my satisfaction during my dates with single russian girls.
I think that paper RPGs (D&D or others) are really more immersive than video games.

"Vive Mandrake" is french while the other one sounds spanish but it is not french (I'm French myself)
I was replying to the reply, not directly to the original thread.
In fact, he is maybe using it and maybe that's why innovation stopped for him at Netscape 4.5.
