The new version of K-lite just got released, with built in IP blocker. Bit Torrent runs in the background of your OS, no GUI, no Napster-esque interface, nothing. Freenet, well, the freenet thing is well documented in these parts. I don't think P2P is going away anytime soon, and Matt "Dentist of Doom" Oppenheim, with Cary "Nowhere to run to, baby" Sherman, can keep making their threats and kicking and screaming, because quite honestly, they come off as morons. Sure, they're annoying, but I hardly feel threatened by them. Maybe the dipshit high school girl down the street using the stock version of Kazaa to download the new Avril CD has a very minimal chance of being pinched, but anyone who has a firewall or a non-Belkin router or a K-lite ++ build or any minimal sort of security will most likely have nothing to fear. It's propaganda.

You know, I dated a cop's stepdaughter, and the chick got really fucked up. Not because of me, mind you, it was because of her mother being a drunky bitch. Of course, they blame me, since it's much easier to blame an outside influence than your inadequate parenting. You mean to tell me that if this guy wanted to be an ass, he could call up my purchasing/selling habits? Wow...

Aren't there fucking laws against this sort of thing?

Clearly consumers are more willing to pay if you threaten and sue them. Duh.

Good news: The **AA's of the world now realize their respective business models are obsolete.

Bad news: Their new business model consists of the following:

    1. Scan Customers' ports.
    2. Lawsuit
    3. Profit!

In all seriousness, I really do think that these guys are deluded enough to believe that this could work - we can't make up our lost revenue because our product is not as culturally relevant as, say, video games; so let's make up said revenue with repeated lawsuits! Even if only a fraction stick, we'll still make our money back!

Old plan: throw shit at consumers, hoping they would buy it.

New Plan: throw shit (lawsuits) against a wall, hoping they will stick.

    It's official - The RIAA/MPAA seem to have a scat fetish :(

  5. Re:How broad is this patent? on Netflix Granted Patent on DVD Subscription Rentals · · Score: 1

Does this patent only cover DVD rentals? I'd hate to see a site like gamefly get hurt over this if the patent is broad enough to include all media rentals with the same scheme. Given: Patent does NOT include all media. Then, Step 1: Give patent office a little ringy ding dingy Step 2: ??? Step 3. Profit! ??? = sue Gamefly for infringing my patent.
