ok, but thats just the motherboard. the $1700 is for a whole computer. athlons may be cheaper, but they _are_ slower (at the same clock speed) than a g4. and this thing is complete w/ 3d accel cards. what nobody realizes is that apple makes more than just iMacs and computers for weird graphics people. a g4 is a fully capable gaming box, the only problem is that most game companies are too scared to port their stuff over to mac because they are dilluded into thinking that noone will buy them. alot like linux huh?
i thing that unix is only going to evolve as it has in the past. with the success of linux, gnome, kde and such, it might become more user-friendly. another reason that it will be around a while, is that mac os X will use a unix kernel (i think its based on bsd). windows is really based on the same technologies that dos was, which was for wimpy 4bit processors (originally). operating systems can change.
dropping from 600 to 450mhz is hardly an innovative idea. the feature has been something mac laptops have been able to do for years (you can set this in the energy control panel).
there is still hotline, which is very similar to a bbs. yet recently, hotline has gone down the drain after more and more windoze users came. now its all a flood of porn, warez, banners, and scams. y
Cool idea. But aside from viewing porn, playing quake without your mom knowing, or combining it with PGP to hide _everything_, it doesent have to much application. eventually, these may be used like passwords, your pair of glassed can see things others cant, like on a public screen facing a city. just look at it and see your own private message.

right, but my g4 cost $1700. not bad for a 128 bit processor faster than every intel chip and most athlons. and thats more than the motherboard.
