At the same time the United Nations should set up an independent space exploration organization which would get its funding from all of the world's nations.
As long as each country pays an equal amount (unlike the international space station.) bjg
The point is that the original easement (to AT&T) was granted with the caveat that they wire they laid would be used at least partially in my interest. Otherwise why should I let them have the use of my land? Now if they want to use that access in a manner which is not in my interest, I would be willing to negotiate with them for a fee, otherwise they can get there wires off my land. If you tell me that the government is going to make me let them put their wires on my property then how is this any different from the government forcing AT&T to let AOL use their wires. bjg
Alot of people here have suggested that companies such as AOL quit whining and lay their own cable. While this sounds nice - do you realize that this means giving AOL an easement (the right to trespass on your property). Its bad enough the electric company, phone company, and the cable company can waltz onto my property when it suits their fancy. I'll be damned if I'm going to grant an easement to any dinky little company that decides to offer broadband service. bjg
There have been some thought experiments where the speed of light and quantum mechanics have come into direct opposition. One example of this is if there an atom with two atoms in the same quantum state save for spin and the spin of one of them is known and then changed the spin of the other is changed instantly. Theoretically this is true no matter how far apart the two electrons are. This theoretically allows instantaneous transmission of information. bjg
It's funny how the US objects to paying UN taxes - the U.S. government doesn't even bother paying its membership fees for the UN.... Maybe if the dues were 180th of the total instead of the ridiculous amount it actually is and has been since the UN's inception...
Very well said. I'll add one question: Why do some people feel the need to tear down successful people? What kind of logic is this? Amazon is only allowed to be successful in one line of merchandise? What a load of bull. Anyone who has a problem with this is simply jealous. Successful at what? Certainly not making money... bjg

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion ..."
I wasn't aware that my local school district was controled by Congress.
