Get them into the Team America Rocketry Challenge, and compete for $40,000 in scholarship money. Application deadline has passed for this year but there's plenty of time to prepare for next year. You have to simulate the heck out of these things to have a prayer of winning, so sponsoring a high school team would be right up your IT department's alley. Check it out at www.rocketcontest.org.
I was at the launch of Apollo 14, in the press gallery, which is as close as they let any unprotected humans get (sort of tells you how valuable they thought reporters were, eh?). At that distance it was knocking over camera tripods right and left, and the blast blew my tie off. You could see the first shock wave ripple across the barge turning pond. There will never be anything like a Saturn V again.
None of the online mapping services can touch DeLorme's Street Atlas USA. It ain't perfect, but it does a consistently better job of getting me places than anything else I've used. It's gotten to where people in my office come to me and ask me to plot routes for them. You can tweak Street Atlas USA for your preferences, avoid construction or bad traffic, and even add roads that are newer than the annual updates. I have a laptop mounted on a floor stand in my van, running Street Atlas USA connected to a GPS receiver. It's the ultimate "guy thing" because I never have to stop and ask directions!
