  1. strage thing happened on Oracle and Red Hat E-Commerce Partnership · · Score: 1

speaking of this, i recieved an email from redhat orders thanking me for my recent order. I thought someone was either being nice or playing a joke. Just a couple days ago I recieved Oracle 8i for linux. I never ordered it and I highly doubt anyone else did. Anyone else have this happen? heh. Interesting....

I agree Amiga users need to let go, but you have to admit, ITS SO HARD. I want to keep the wishful thinking, ie, there will be a super new system soon, they're just holding out. But until I can fully let go, I'll still hope. At work, we have an Amiga hooked into our Mac network. I also have an Amiga emulator. Maybe it truly is time to put them to rest. *sigh*

  4. what about nature? on Genetically Engineered Children · · Score: 1

I agree. In nature, we see the "selfish gene theory." Which basically means animals (including humans) reproduce to further their genes through children. This has been going on since the beginning of life. I see dangers in the social implications, such as superiority, but what about us messing with nature, which is something we absolutely do not understand. Can this lead to a demise in our species? Let me elaborate... Say we can engineer children, and parents have a favorite "gene combination" that they want their kids to have. This combination makes them smarter or stronger, or whatever. 20 years later, all these genetically engineered humans died from a blood disease. This is because we didn't know all there was to know about the human genome and we unknowingly messed up their resistance to a disease. I think we should leave it to nature. Does anyone else think this is a possibility? Should we even attempt something with such severe implications? What do you think?

The bible said that homosexuality was an abomination, but it never said that God hated homosexuals. (I wonder how the filmmakers and gun lobbyists came in?) Oh yeah, Remember the verse that said, "I sayeth unto you, the filmmakers and gun lobbyists are evil, and I hate them, thus sayeth the Lord." (Denote sarcasm...)

Thanks for knowing your facts. We need more people like you around.

I really like that last line. When people read negative words like in Suck's article, they get the idea, "well what's the use?" and they give up. We need more people that /do/ have faith in their fellow man.

i understand what you are saying, but i think the whole point of the LinuxPPC deal is to show that Linux (maintained by a loose knit team of hackers), kicks windows2000 (an OS made by the biggest and most powerful software company). But even when Windows2000 comes out of Beta, it'll still crash on its own cause its NT based. You still have to admit, Win2K crashing while ONLY running httpd on port 80 and nothing else is quite sad, even in Beta Testing.

what I would like to be posted in the news is the fact that windows2000test has ONLY httpd running on port 80. That would not even make a practical server. The LinuxPPC server has enabled telnet to make it fair. Oh well, at least the story used the word 'crackers' correctly.

I just don't know what I can do, besides guard my copies of PGP. Any good ideas???
