  1. Re:Haven't we heard this before? on The End of Moore's Law? · · Score: 1

Yes, we have, but those predictions were more based on user needs/wants. This wall is an actual physical barrier. I mentioned in a previous post that wouldn't you need x amount of atoms just to do basic functions ?

  2. Possibly dumb but maybe right question. on The End of Moore's Law? · · Score: 1

Well, wouldn't it HAVE to stop somewhere ? I mean, you can't make a semiconductor out of a single atom ... I mean, despite all the technological advances, you still have physical limits to work with. Like, you can't see a group of 5 atoms with the naked eye. And no amount of technological advance will change that ... so won't they hit a physical, barrier somewhere where the Laws of the Universe will trample all over them ?

Bet M$ would jump in first and get a monopoly on it though *grin*

    Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh ...
Then why do we have Mother's Day? Wouldn't all the women who are infertile for some reason or another and were wanting to have children resent that ?? Would'nt the men in that relationship resent Father's Day ?? I mean, don't brag it, but don't sweep it under the closet, it's there to be had !!

I haven't tried it myself (I'd be screwed with the IP I have now - too sensitive), but my friend, a Hotmail employee, reports that they allow ~5 moves with IP LOGGING ON, and sending mail from there will never actually send ... just go on to the bottom of your log...

LynxSSL. I encountered this when M$ yelled at me for not using SSL. Oh well. At least I now have 128-bit lynx courtesy of replay.com =)
With the new Hotmail it's sooooooooo more secure ... because of SSL, when you use the crack, no-one will know what account you're cracking *grin*

  9. WHAT ?!? on Ask Slashdot: Should the US Government Tax Email? · · Score: 1

The US government have finally gone crazy. Do they tax IRL (snail) mail !!! NO !!!
Well, I don't care about the US government, living in Australia as I do, but I only pay 45c for the stamp (only more for very heavy parcels, overnight express delivery or international), and I don't get taxed for that ... we already sorta are with the ISP costs == stamp costs. Heh. Oh well, at least if they DO do it, I won't be affected =)
(our government IS trying to regulate the Internet though ... our Prime Minister, in response to the protests, said, "You don't understand the mood of middle Australia on this ... you don't know how deeply some people feel about it." Why not just try and censor swearing, and parents have to deny access to anyone caught saying a swearword ?? Just as stupid ...)

  10. Potentially Obvious Question on Australia Make Software Reverse Engineering Legal · · Score: 1

Our new law makes it illegal to "communicate the information" to anyone else. Couldn't you reverse engineer it in Australia, put the source on a shell box, give someone else in the US the password, and then, under their Constitutional rights, they could publish a book with the source code ? Because, theoretically, giving someone a shell password isn't really communicating the information ... like giving someone a key to the house isn't transferring ownership of everything in it ? Maybe someone could do what that PGP guy did and publish a book of the WinNT4/98/2k source ?
