My first thought is "Oh no, not more menu-items. I am already annoyed at the current structure."
For example: What is the use for Applications/Editors when Office/Wordprocessors exist (or vice versa).
But then, I actually agree with you. If the system was to be simplified that is (not becoming more complex). I really like your idea of "user-sensitive-menus" or rules.
This could also be very usable system for the general underlying catagorization (not sure of the spelling on THAT one), both on the filesystem but also as a standard for projects posted all over web. Search google for/linux/apps/math/plotters and get a listing of ALL current projects in that field.... Maybe impossible to implement... Just a thought.. tiiiired now.
I'm not sure why I even bother replying to this obvious trolling, but here it goes anyway.
When was the last time you found an EULA on a VCR? Never? And on your Nintendo system? Never? Oh, what a surprise. How about your brand new car? Dishwasher? Bed? Computer? Anything? I don't even like the X-Box but if I had one I would definetley install Linux on it, since it is my own property, and as with everything else I own - I do what I want with it since I bought it:-D
What font problems? It is pretty obvious you never tested one of the newer distributions.
And to answer your SCO/Linux FUD. You just need to read and educate yourself. That would take care of most of your illusions.
It is fairly obvious that changes in our environment has increased rapidly during the past years.
Last winter has been one of the coldest in a few hundred years in Sweden. I was there (south part) during christmas and the warmest temperature we had was -24. The same goes for the summer here in Europe. So damn hot. Here in Paris we've had thousands of deaths due to the heat.
Something strange is happening. All research about our "new" environment is welcome. Ocean or otherwise. What are your thoughts?
Maybe SCO/McBride is not a foot soldier for anti-linux but for Linux itself. Think about it. Linux is getting so big that the GPL must be tested somehow for the companies to get comfortable with OSS. It is probably the stongest licence available today and Open Source need the buzz to keep on coming - it is free commercial!
Just imagine for a second that McBride actually want GPL to come out of this winning. What better way to make GPL stronger than to actually test it in court. How big is the risk that the GPL is invalid? Next to none probably.
1. McBride has a great plan to promote OSS and Linux but have no funding to do it.
2. McBride takes over SCO to create a bogus "anti-linux" company.
3. SCO get sponsor money from Microsoft.
4. SCO take the big boys (IBM blablabla) to court.
5. SCO promotes Linux with free advertisement for as long as possible (bad publicity is still publicity).
6. SCO looses the fictive battle in court.
7. Alot of companies and governments want to invest in OpenSource.
8. Linux PROFITS!!!
Does this sound unlikely to you? Really? It does make you think for awhile...
Yes, it CAN be a good thing. I have worked for one of the major printer manufacturers for a few years in the technical-support department and the ink costs is waaaaay to high.
It is cheaper in some cases to buy a whole new printer since the new machines comes with new, full, ink tanks.
But the sad fact is, even though it is anticompetative, it is actually not good for the printers lifespan with pirate ink. The printhead in the printer consist of hundreds of nozzles (tiny holes that squirt the ink out on the paper) and is very sensitive for the consistency of the ink.
Some manufacturers of pirate-ink produce very good ink. It can be good ink you buy but in at least 50% of the cases the "refills" jam the printhead. Some ink dries to quickly while others doesn't dry quick enough. If the printhead is ruined because of pirate-ink this is not covered by the warranty. Some customers I had thought they made a good deal when they bought the 3rd party ink, until they realized how much a new printhead cost.:-)
No consumer should trust reviewers fully. Even reviews from a "trusted" source should be viewed with a critic eye.
I don't know how many of you do like I do:
Wait 3-4-5 weeks to see how other people liked/disliked the product (including bugs, crappy or good casings etc). An easy way to check is to go to sites like
This is my own translation, more or less word by word since I don't have much experience with translation of laws:-)

Next page: Microsoft puts focus on security.
Does THAT sound like something Microsoft would do? heh
I have another one:
7. Please offer music in STEREO!
At least in Europe(tm), MTV is only broadcasting in mono. I don't like MTV so I don't really care, but it is a bit wierd.
