The answer is simple - use your wallet. Whether you file share or not, DONT BUY ANY MUSIC FROM ANY RIAA MEMBER. If you must, buy it used. That way the money goes to a local merchant not the record company.
If everyone stops buying music, then the music companies will have to change their tune. ha ha ha... Seriously - if no one buys new music - record stores/retial merchants will preasure the RIAA to stop its nonsense... Retail has far more power than the RIAA. Hell - get Walmart on your side and you've got it made.
