Am I the only one that thinks Enterprise is a perfect candidate for Paramount to try some sort of alternate distribution channel? I didn't care for the series much myself, but with a group of fans loyal enough to pay for production, wouldn't something like a pay-per-download service be a viable option? Enterprise may not nab the ratings UPN wants, but with a good number of fans already offering to pay to see it, I think this would be the ideal prototype for something like that. Anyone agree?
I'll be going into 11th grade this year, and I used an iBook for all of last year. It's been incredibly useful for me. I do all my assignments in class using OpenOffice (and Flash, Dreamweaver etc. for Multimedia classes). I've had no problems with compatibility (school is a 100% Windows environment) and the iBook has held up extremely well. It does get about 4 1/2 hours of battery life with the backlight turned down, and has survived dozens of falls, some from as high as 5 feet. My grades improved (straight As) mainly because I wasn't losing my assignments. If the paper disappears, I've still got it on my hard drive. I don't have to search for notes, because they are all right there.
I don't know if a program like this is right for all students, but it has certainly helped me.
I would say it's definitely worth it. I have an older iBook (500 MHz) with the AppleCare plan, and its paid for itself many times over. It's taken a lot of abuse (Mainly from me being clumsy) and has had some problems. Here's what I've gotten fixed/replaced so far:
LCD Screen (Twice)
AC Adapter (3 Times)
Battery (Once)
I was really surprised how helpful Apple was. As an example, when my battery died, I called them thinking they'd tell me it wasn't covered. It actually was covered, and they shipped it to me in under 24 hours, without charging me a cent (Well, except for the AppleCare Plan). Well worth the money in my case.
