this is surely llama's point. As it is, a `reasonable man' at the patent office makes the decision on our behalf. Maybe a more democratic system would be advantageous.
IP rights exist and are necessary, but should things like genes be patented? Or physical laws like gravity? Lines have to be drawn, and the more open that process is the better.
