I didn't say drivers were smart. Do you even read? Computers are dumb. Cars will never self drive.

I love Tesla owners crowing about "free updates" on their $80,000 car. Ultimate stupidity.

So true. I don't consider sitting in a metal box with wheels to be "luxury". But Tesla ain't even a luxury car.

You paid $70k for a car. No one said anything about a high-end luxury car. Tesla's certainly aren't that. They are the equivalent of a $30k Ford in terms of luxury. But at least you get free updates!

Because people are really stupid. Really stupid. People loan the government money tax-free and celebrate when they get a "refund" on their taxes.

It does take hard AI. The dumbest person is infinitely smarter than the best computer.

This is the first step for finding habitable planets outside of our solar system. The next step will be to build an interplanetary rocket. Musk is already working on that. Soon we will be able to get off this rock stuck in a gravity well forever!

  16. The fastest man made object has only acheived 0.00024% the speed of light. And that was an unmanned probe. Faster than light travel is impossible (we can prove this). Even getting a significant fraction of the speed of light with a manned or unmanned probe isn't even a remote possibility.

  17. Are people insane? Have you forgotten about the speed of light and basic physics? You aren't going to be visiting "distant moons" with crewed missions. That includes Mars.

  23. Possibly. The point is that you have a lot to make up in volume if you are making $10 per unit while someone else is making $300 per unit. I would much rather make more money per unit. The problem with big volume is there is a lot more hassle. More support needed, more returns to handle, bigger manufacturing runs, more warehouse space, etc.

  24. Good point, because you can make up for your losses in volume. Derp.

  25. Homepod = $350. Amazon Echo = $85. Market share isn't important if you are losing money on every sale.
