I agree... it's taking me forever to listen to samples and d/l music. Ugh. I'm a Mac guy and was actually thinking about this service pretty seriously. However, as mentioned before, the monthly subscription method doesn't work for me. I don't download THAT much music.
Apple hasn't had the best of luck recently with their updates. Unfortunately, I update my 12" G4 PB pretty soon after they are announced here on/. Nothing too terrible has happened to me, but it would be nice if Apple was more careful or patient in releasing updates. I guess some things are hard to predict, but it definitely doesn't make people like me happy.
Is it just me, or wasn't this on/. a long time ago? I guess there has been a lot of progress since then, but I do remember hearing about a personal server device that Intel was working on a while ago.
This kind of reminds me of OQO too. What ever happened to that project? Seems dead: www.oqo.com.
