Murdoch, arriving in the US about 20 years ago with training on Fleet Street, has almost single-handedly taught the US press how to integrate commercial interests with "journalism". Take, for example, TV Guide - since Rupert's takeover, TV Guide has featuring a disproportionate number of stars of Fox series on its cover. Why? Murdoch owns Fox as well.
Yes, journalism is pretty wretched these days, but let's not lose sight of how it got there.
