Let me guess: The camera is inserted, the hotplug subsystem detects it, the kernel module for the camera is inserted, the automounter mounts the filesystem on camera, gnome vfs's detects a new filesystem from the camera has been added and starts a couple of applications one to read the camera one to display the icons of the pictures, one to get the pictures from the camera, one to display the pictures and the rest to keep those from opperating properly. Then when the luser selects a picture the viewer program crashes (sigsegv) leaving a bunch of zombies behind.
Ohh, i forgot. And a directory with crap in the user's home directory.

Most linux window managers try to emulate WIndows. A lot are still trying to emulate win9X while others have moved on to emulating winXP or win2K. Linux offers virtual destops which I have always liked, now that option is availabe on both 2K and SP.

Whatever you smoked it must be really strong.
    Can I have some ?

Windows has the window manager of the 80-90.
Three damn buttons. The equivalent of the windows
window manager in unix is TWM. (thought TWM is
much more flexible when it comes to configurability ). Oh, i forgot, windows Xp is
    much more colorfull ;-)

So where are the virtual desktops in win2k and winXp located ? You mean the desktop crashes so
it can be considered virtual ?
You mean your video card software has some stuff
to make virtual desktops ? That's outside the
"window manager" and they're violating a
Microsoft patent (discovered by -sic- Rob Nation
    i think)

    yes. I do
    as someone said:

What scares me is that "the community" is no longer going to aim to produce a stable kernel, but rather, it will be up to the commercial distributors. This goes against the whole idea of Free Software. The idea is to make a working, useful product, not half-baked cripple-ware that you then have to pay someone to fix. I understand the concept of paying other people to "add value" i.e. enhanced features, but I don't regard stability as an "enhanced feature." A lot of people who don't alread run Linux (but maybe Windows) will now have one less reason to change and one more piece of FUD to beat the Free and Open Source Software movement with.

I'm a Slakware man myself, but I don't like sitting around waiting for Patrick to make a new kernel. I like to update my kernel myself from the official Linus tarball as and when required. This will no longer be possible.

I wanna benchmark UT2004 over those interfaces.

Oh, wait a minute, they allready benchmarked UT2004 with Serial ATA.

Anybody care to do a benchmark of Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL on the latest Nvidia

I see that Intel keeps increasing the number of "virtual processors" on their chip. But with a 512kB
cache they will only wait a lot for the data to become available. Has any of you wondered why a PowerPC is better than a Pentium(TM) at the same clock ?
Because MHz=bullshit when the memory runs at [2-4]00 MHz.

Increasing the number of processor per chip without increasing the cache is marketing bullshit.

Explore what on windows ? the buttons ?

Anyone who says that windows(tm) is a easy and
intuitive interface is an idiot who has never
done anything in windows except playing games and
typing letters in whatever editor he wants.

Some people are used with the annoyances of
windows and they won't complain because for
them is normal for an application to crash,
is normal to have to press a predefined, ugly
button to make a menu appear. Some windows
managers are years (12 years fvwm) old and
you still can't find in Gnome or Kde a decent
functionality. They are windows on linux:
same look and feel same interface, same
memory hog, same crashes, same idiot user base.
